Letters fromKadiju Primary School Around 50 pupils and10 teachers visited the sites and office on11August 2001 and wrote thanks letter to express their wonderful experiences. Some selected letters are shown below.
One day our head teacher quickly entered in our classroom and told us that we will go to see the Sondu/Miriu Project. When I heard that I was really very delighted because I had never gone there before. When it was just a day to go he told us what to do and how we will meet each other and where to meet after that we went at home in the evening that night I did not even sleep I kept thinking when the day light will be again. When the time reached I was really very happy to see the next morning. I wake up very quickly and prepared my breakfast, then I bathed, after bathing I took my breakfast I dressed up and set off. No sooner did I reached at school than I saw our teacher and some pupils moving. When we were on the way going we learnt a lot about the behavior of some trees. We walked until we were very exhausted, when we reached at the bridge, we really wondered because we had never seen such a bridge before. I thought that we could even broke the bridge, but we found that it was made by hard metal rode. After passing the bridge we went direct to where the bus was. Immediately we reached than we entered quickly. There each and everybody was given a cap and a map of their Plan. Pupils were laughing grimy everyone was having a smile face. After a few minutes the bus was on the way going done to adit one. There we learnt a lot and the purpose of building that power project. After some minutes the vehicle was on the way going to adit three on our way to Kolweny we saw how gully erosion is working with a certain place there when we reached the place where we were going we quickly move out and we were led to adit three straight away. On adit three we really wondered of what we saw, that oxygen can be pumped and that place was very cold as ice and I don't think that anyone is adopted to live there. After a few minutes later, we were taken again to adit three where we saw the surge tank which was 14m diameter and 37m high. There we really wondered up to know I am still wondering how those people how those people managed to move such a thing. We really learnt a lot that I can not even think of all. There the vehicle was on the way back to the manages office, there we were really welcomed by the manager. From that time I concluded that the manager is a good person because none can offer for crates of soda and vehicle without paying anything and thanked him.
Last month but once our headteacher announced for us that on 11/8/2001 we would go to the tour. So we should prepare for the tour. When that day reached we go to school to meet together. Within no time as seconds changed to minutes and minutes to hours we started walking. On the way going we met donkeys fighting each other and my heart was pumping rigorously in my dry constable ribs a sit it was being possessed by the demons of hunger.I was immersed in deep thought which adhered interruption. When we reached site we went directly in the bus. After the minutes the watchman bring for us helmets and maps which we are going to used in the tunnel. After some minutes the bus took us to adit one and we are given some introduction and machines such as Hitachi, Caterpillar and cranes and their uses. And also we were told why Odino (the Project is called locarry as Odino) is being built for hydro-electric power, employment and irrigation. Then we went to Thurdibuoro and we were given some two gentlemen to guide us one was called Timothy Onyango and the other one was Tomas Oyando and take us to the tunnel and there was a machine called ventilator which is used for pumping oxygen in the tunnel. Then we went to another tunnel where water will be thr first one was for building HEP. Then we went to the office for some questions. After we have gone there, James Oyando went to another room and brought sodas. When we were drinking we were also asked some questions. |
