その日は明るいそして涼しい朝でした。友達が発電所のベースキャンプに、日本ケニア友好公立 図書館の看板があったよと話してくれました。
土曜日の朝、ベッドからたたき起こした友達と一緒に、途中で笑っている大きい蛇を妊娠している山 羊のように飛び越え、キャンプへ向かいました。
図書館の中には興味深い本がたくさんあり、管理人の婦人が時間ですよと話すまで、時間を忘れて 本を読んでいました。本を返し退館の署名をして帰る時、友達が本を持って帰ろうとしたので、それ は良くないことだと忠告してあげました。

図書館は子供にも大人にも自由に入り勉強できるところです。本は持ち出し出来ません。管理して いる婦人会の人達は、大変正直で利用者を自分の子供の様に対応してくれます。
図書館は本屋で本を購入できないような貧乏な子供や大人を助けています。私の場合、図書館か ら6kmくらい離れた所に住んでいますが、一冊の教科書も持っていないのでたいへん役にたちます 。私はケニアの全国試験を受ける準備に自分で本を選んで勉強できます。両親は週末に家から図 書館までのバス代をくれます。
私は学校より、婦人会の人は親切でまた本の種類も多いので図書館の雰囲気のほうが好きです。 日本人と婦人会に感謝し、神のご加護が彼らにありますように祈っています。

図書館の事を聞いた次の朝暗い内に起きて、母に図書館に行って良いかと聞いたら、母は早過ぎ るよと大声で言いました。父はあまりに悲しそうにしている私を見て、開館してないだろうけど行くだけ 行って良いといいました。急いで行ってみたら昼から開館すると聞き、急いだのにむなしいことだっ たと気づきました。
帰ったら母が、愚か者は落ちるまで気が付かないものだといいました。その後大好きな魚とウガリの 昼食を食べました。
昼から図書館に行くとたくさんの人が出入りしていました。そこには本棚のほかに飲み水もありました 。私達は図書館へ行き、ノートを取り、それを家で読みました。私はたくさんの手助けをしてくれるケ ニアと日本政府に感謝しています。今日学んだことは、必要な時の友が本当の友だということです。

It was bright and chilly morning when the birds were just singing their melodies song and the sun was just on its normal horizon. When I woke up early in the morning preparing going to School, I heard somebody calling me "Oumaa!" and I replied "What" as I go near him, asking him what he was calling me for, and he told me that on Monday morning when he went to the Base Camp he saw a small white coloured library on his left hand side. And I asked him " What did you read there?, and he told me that he red a Japanese Friendship Library. I told him that was good news.
It was on Saturday morning when I woke up early in the morning and I started preparing for the holiday. I took my breakfast and wore my clothes quickly going to my friend home. When I reached at the door I called out his name "Otieno!" and there was no answer and I started knocking the door till it was opened and I went inside the house, and found him still sleeping and I woke him up. It was that evening when we started our journey going towards the Base Camp, on our way going we met a big snake giggle on the ground and we jumped like a pregnant sheep in the morning, as we are going to our way we started making some legend story about our failure of hydro power project until we reached at the Base Camp.
